Shery Olivo is a Dominican-American author, entrepreneur, and proud community advocate running to represent New York’s 86th Assembly District. A Bronx resident, wife, and mother of two — Max and Alaia — she has built her life around faith, family, and service. Raised in the Claremont section of the Bronx after immigrating from the Dominican Republic, Shery graduated from Morris High School and earned her degree in Culinary Arts from Monroe College. Her journey from immigrant child to small-business owner reflects the determination and hope shared by families across her district.
Throughout her career, Shery has been a champion for education, culture, and empowerment. She has led children’s reading initiatives, supported Latina entrepreneurs, and served in leadership roles including Director of Membership for the Dominican American Republican Club and Executive Director of Premios Viva La Mujer 2025, an annual ceremony honoring women in business and community leadership. Her work continues to inspire pride and unity across the Bronx and beyond.

After the tragic assassination of her nephew, Juan Peña, and the silence that followed from elected officials, she realized her community deserved leaders who act with courage and compassion.
